New York, NY | Following several days of inclement weather postponing the start to the Panthers season, BMCC baseball was in full swing over the weekend, with the Panthers playing 3 consecutive days of doubleheader action.
On Friday, BMCC took on Globe IT but came up short in both games against the Division I opponent. Despite a 10-0 loss in the first half of the doubleheader, the Panthers regained their composure for the second game, but would ultimately lose by a final score of 1-0.
In Saturday's matchup against the Division II Raritan Valley, the Panthers had their highest run production thus far this season. Freshman
Starlyn Urena led the way for the Panthers on offense, going 4-for-4 with 1 RBI and 2 stolen bases.
Geovany Henriquez scored 2 runs after going 1-for-3 with a stolen base, but it would not be enough to match the Golden Lions explosive offense as the Panthers lost 12-5.
Jeremy Aponte got the start in Sunday's game against Finger Lakes, the freshman threw 5 scoreless innings before the Lakers broke through in the 6
th. Aponte would leave the game with the score tied 1-1, but the Lakers would score the go-ahead run in the final inning to sneak away with a 2-1 victory.
After their stretch of 6 games over the weekend, the Panthers will have time to rest before they travel to Stoneridge, NY to take on Ulster County Senators on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 3:30pm.
